Sex, Power, Love and Politics
Summary:
Network: CBS
Release: Fall 2006
A comedy about a group of low-level congressional staffers who aren't quite where they thought they would be in their 30's. These aspiring politicians all live and work together.
Cast and Crew:
There is some buzz around this show due to the cast of James Van Der Beek and Jane Krakowski. This pilot will mark Van Der Beek's first forray into television since the acclaimed teen drama "Dawson's Creek" ended. Krakowski is most known for her "Ally McBeal" role on Fox.
Jay Harrington has also been cast as a main character. You have seen this guy a lot on television in the past few years. He has bounced around from "Coupling", "Ghost Whisperer", "Summerland", "Emily's Reasons Why Not", and most recently as Dr. Ron McCready on "Desperate Housewives". The other actors are uknowns.
Greg Malins and Pamela Fryman have put together this pilot. Malins was the EP on "Will and Grace" and Pamela Fryman worked on the new CBS comedy "How I Met Your Mother".
Our Take:
There are some promising things here. The title of the show is not one of them. This is such a mouthful, I can't imagine it being the actual show name if the pilot gets picked up. Jane Krakowski is a Tony award winner and a solid actress. If the show focuses a lot on her and Harrington this pilot could see the light of day at CBS. We also like the Executive Producer, Malins who's work on "Will and Grace" was superb. We expect the writing to be pretty solid, but we still are not convinced there is enough here to make a winner.
