Ugly Betty - TV Frog


	TV FROG > Ugly Betty Summary: Network: ABC Release: Fall 2006 This one hour drama is based on the Columbian soap opera "Ugly Betty". The show is about a homely girl who is hired as an assistant at a top fasion magazine to break the magazine's boss' habit of sleeping with his assistants. Cast and Crew: America Ferrera, Becki Newton, Eric Mabius, Ana Ortiz, Ashley Jensen, and Charlotte Ross have been cast in the pilot. Ferrera hasn't worked on much and is most noted for her role in the 2005 film "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants". Becki Newton is a newcomer to television as well with her only recurring role being on the cancelled "American Dreams" drama. Mabius most recently had a 4 episode arc on "The O.C." while Ortiz did work on FX's "Over There" and a few episodes of "Boston Legal". Ashley Jensen was the female lead opposite Ricky Gervais in his comedy "Extras" on HBO. If you were one of the (very few) people that watched ABC's "Jack in Progress" in 2005, then you will remember Charlotte Ross as "Annie". Silvio Horta and Ben Silverman serve as the EP's, the former working on "Jack 2.0" and the latter on "The Office". An interesting side note, is that Selma Hayek is also credited as an EP. Our Take: To be honest, we don't think this pilot is going anywhere. Although we like the idea of the Columbian import, we don't think the cast is right for this to be a hit in the states. We are willing to bet Hayek pulled quite a few strings to get this baby in production...and that is exactly where Ugly Betty will end.
